Patrick Bremer is a unique and innovative voice in contemporary British art. Using paper collage and heavy impasto oil paint as his primary mediums, he specialises in portraiture and still life, approaching his collages as paintings by using blocks of paper as one might use a loaded brush.

“With each new piece I work on, I try to get looser and treat the medium more like paint. I have been letting the work take its own direction more recently, with the images on the collage paper often making a contribution to that end destination.”

Winner of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters’ prestigious De Laszlo award for the outstanding portrait by an artist under the age of 35, Patrick regularly creates collage illustrations for magazines such as The New Yorker and is often invited to teach at events including the ‘This is Bowie’ exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
