Vincent Kamp is renowned for his darkly compelling portraits of unconventional individuals whose alternative lifestyles interest him both personally and as an artist. In terms of his style and technique however, he refers to a more familiar but no less fascinating cast of characters – the virtuoso portraitists of the Dutch Golden Age.

Rembrandt’s famous painting The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicholaes Tulp (1632) had a huge impact on Vincent when he first saw it in Holland.
