Taking Rembrandt’s The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp as his starting point, Vincent has created a series of images in which the level of detail, the mastery of light and shade and the sheer power of the subject enthral and mesmerise the viewer.

“The recreation of one of my favourite Rembrandt paintings provided the inspiration to create my own narrative portrait composition. In the central painting we see Frank Rimer, cutthroat blade in hand demonstrating a shave as in Rembrandt's painting we see Dr. Nicolaes Tulp instructing surgeons in dissection. My intention was to create an entire narrative based on the whole composition, but then to interrogate each character as an individual, to uncover their story, to go on a journey of your imagination.”
